Fees for writing white papers are usually in the range $10,000 to $25,000 depending upon the nature of the paper, the research involved etc. I've heard that J K Rowling has made about $1 billion from writing a series of Harry Potter books. By comparison, white papers are dirt cheap.
Of course the analysts doing the writing don't get the fee, the analyst company does. Analyst companies rarely do well and many die out. It's not a particularly well paid profession. The fees are reasonable given the cost of doing the work.

I have heard that analyst companies are paid $10,000 or more to write these whitepapers. Is this true? This sounds like a lot of money. How do analysts justify such pricing? Perhaps I am just naive . . .
