Waw,
So basically what I do understand from this reading is that "Private Cloud" does not exist. What you are saying is that what "Private Cloud" is actually a Data Center. And a Data Center will never become a Private Clous what ever you do.
I work for a goervenement org. and we have been thinking about Private Cloud and we made 3 months of intensive research with dedicated team to define what the architecture should be. We finaly reached the conclusion that we will not build a private cloud. The main driver at the beginining was Security. We finaly realised that what ever we do, we will never be able to reach the level of security that Public Cloud can offer. At the begnining it was so obvious that we will never put our data in a public cloud.
What I read here is a perfect confirmation of the result we reached.
Thank you so much. Great Job.... I hope those people who try to convince about Private Cloud will be shut down quickly

We found a great visual about cloud computing that I thought I'd share with you. Simple and informative, and easier on the eye than a long blog post: http://bit.ly/cZLjN3

I’ve found an organisation called Servage who apparently have a groundbreaking service. It’s always hard to tell whether something is going to take off, especially with so much hype but the landing page looks cool! http://www.servage.com/. Have checked out their Twitter page (twitter.com/totalcloud)but seems they are waiting for the launch before tweeting their own news.....

I followed the link and read the posting. Thanks for the contribution. It's sad to see cloud computing get hijacked as a marketing term. But that's the destiny of just about any compelling idea these days.

Robin,

Thanks for the voice of sanity in this crazy world and on this out-of-control topic. I was at the OpSource SaaS Summit last week in SF. Of course Cloud Computing was a hot topic... I was extremely disappointed that so many people - expert panelists even - couldn't or wouldn't define what Cloud Computing is/isn't.

Your 10 points are really good.

I wrote my thoughts about it just last night here: http://is.gd/odga

Not as long as yours, but certainly kindred thoughts. Thanks!
